In The Chatfield Story:
Recollections of Private Riley V. Beach

Private Riley Vincent Beach was a fellow soldier in Company B, 113 Illinois Infantry. Referencing his personal Civil War diaries circa 1917, Beach typed out his "recollections" and passed on a carbon copy to Chatfield. His time-worn black and red binder contains 42 carbon-copied pages. This treasure is now safely preserved in the Huntington Library, San Marino, California.
